Hi there!

I'm from Akranes, a small town in Iceland just by the sea. I grew up listening to the waves while falling asleep and waking up looking at the glacier Snæfellsjökull through my bedroom window. From a young age I felt the importance of having access to natural environments and feeling the freedom of jumping down the huge rocks of the seawall and exploring how the tides change the shore with every breath, experiencing it’s power, life and movement.

It’s my belief that everyone should have access to those kinds of experiences and for that reason I started studying tourism at the University of Iceland in 2012. I soon found out that I was more interested in how tourism can coexist with nature for years to come rather than ‘how can we get more people to see this?’. So that’s when I decided I needed to refocus. After having my two kids I registered at the Agricultural University of Iceland in Landscape Architecture, determined to be the change I wanted to see.

I found out that I am fascinated with urban environments, especially in northern climate and the people living there. I’m moved by their strong attitude towards life and I do believe that is the key in upcoming correction era in our fight against climate change. We need our lifestyles and cities to become sustainable and I want to be a part of that movement.

After getting my bachelor degree I moved to Sweden with my family to pursue my studies even further. In my studies at LTH at the Sustainable Urban Design program I could connect so many aspects of what I believe is fundamentally important for our life and how we as urban designers can make it significantly better without destroying nature for future generations if done right.

As i keep learning and growing as a designer it becomes clearer and clearer that political connections with urban and rural planning is more important now than ever and that it’s not only the big cities that need to step up their game here but also the smaller towns and villages.

Juggling family life, my studies, career and social life has not always been easy but it’s become my greatest achievement and I am very proud of where I am today and I'm enjoying every minute of it.
